Stephen Haramis, LCSW-R, BCD, C-PD

Stephen Haramis, LCSW-R, BCD, C-PD, is a psychotherapist and practice owner known for a disciplined, depth-oriented approach to clinical work. As a Board Certified Clinical Social Worker through the American Board of Clinical Social Work, he brings over eleven years of direct psychotherapy experience, supported by an additional seven years in diverse human service settings that inform his clinical range and perspective.

He received his graduate training through the Greater Rochester Collaborative MSW Program at Nazareth University and continued his clinical development through the RIT Psychotherapy Training Program. He completed post-graduate advanced training in group psychotherapy through the University of Rochester Medical Center within the Department of Psychiatry. At URMC, he served on the diagnostic intake team, specializing in assessment, diagnostic clarification, and complex case formulation. Prior to this, he worked within the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP), with a focus on acute psychiatric evaluation and crisis stabilization. He also holds certification in Personality Disorder Treatment through Evergreen Certifications, supporting structured work with complex and enduring relational patterns.

His clinical background includes emergency psychiatric services, outpatient mental health and private practice psychotherapy. In addition to his clinical work, he has contributed to field supervision and the training of therapists and clinical students, reflecting an ongoing commitment to clinical standards and professional development.

In his current practice, Stephen provides individual, couples, and family therapy, and leads interpersonal process groups as a core component of treatment. He specializes in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), including the development of a structured, intensive group-based Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) model designed to facilitate efficient, high-engagement treatment. His work also focuses on personality structure and complex relational dynamics, integrating careful assessment with depth-oriented psychotherapy.

His therapeutic style is precise, analytical, and collaborative. He works with patients to identify and examine patterns in thinking, behavior, and relationships, with an emphasis on clarity, structure, and sustained change over time.
